        Disposition :
Raidou Kuzunoha XIV didn’t become Raidou Kuzunoha XIV until he completed a lifetime of training to take up this title. An orphan growing up in the Shinoda woods with the Kuzunoha clan, near the Capital of Japan, Raidou had a sheltered and strict life. It takes a lot of discipline, intelligence and training to take up a Kuzunoha clan title, and not just anyone can pass the tests. Expert skill in weapons training and command over demons in someone so young can only be achieved with constant hard work. Raidou took to it well, and grew up into a responsible, disciplined and powerful young man. He gets further guidance out in the world from his constant companion Gouto-Douji, the spirit of Raidou Kuzunoha I, who is in the form of a black cat.

While most of his life had been preoccupied with this task, he attended school in the Capital, where he had been attending Yumizuki High School. All future summoners attend it, unbeknownst to the rest of the students. Raidou is popular there for his cool demeanor, refined features and unprecedented athletics, but his classmates worry about his frequent, long absences that he refuses to explain. It's a job he has to keep hidden from his schoolmates, and it keeps him from getting too close to anyone. Demons are mistrustful or violent towards humans, and being someone who interacts with them would cast suspicion his way if others knew. Others who didn't believe in demons would just think he was out of his mind.

His unique upbringing has left its scars on him. While confident in his abilities, he is a very quiet person, and talks in short sentences when he talks at all. He loosens up when getting to know someone, but that takes some time to get past that icy exterior. While brave in the face of danger, he’s socially stunted, though he means well. When Nagi, another member of the Kuzunoha clan on the path to titlehood, asks him to give her praise for a job well done, Raidou pats her on the head and praises her like she was a small child, and not a young woman around his own age. Nagi is mortified by this treatment from someone she admires, and Raidou is left confused. He can talk to and understand the motivations and feelings of a demon more than he can with other humans. He'd also much rather prove himself with his strength than his words.

Raidou is fully dedicated to his job of protecting the Capital and its inhabitants safe from demons and supernatural dangers. Probably too dedicated. He works on his dangerous missions under the guise of cases for the Narumi Detective Agency. Cases the agency tends to tackle are of the strange and unusual types. Shohei Narumi, the head detective, often passes off work to the diligent Raidou so he can go off and do something else. Raidou works without complaint. It’s not a surprise that someone born and raised to do a certain job would be practically married to it. Being a demon summoner is hazardous work, and Raidou often gets severely hurt in his battles and investigations. He operates with little regard to his own safety, as the safety of the Capital is more important. This causes great concern in his friends. Narumi might gripe about the medical bills Raidou racks up, but he honestly worries for the kid. Occasionally in the heat of battle, despite all that outward levelness, Raidou starts to lose himself to the violence. This happens especially when villains cause threats to those he cares about. It’s Gouto who can see those signs, and tells him to calm his heart before he loses control.

Raidou is stoic in a way that only demon summoners can be. Interacting with demons daily is enough to jade someone to any other weirdness or dangers in the world. But Raidou has also run into some of the most dangerous and disgusting demons one could conceive of, demons that often possess humans to monstrous, twisted results and causing mass harm to the Capital. In the face of this, Raidou does his best to remain collected, and focused on saving the day. Protecting others is all he knows and all he wants to do. Raidou’s personality can also come off as cold, unfeeling and even intimidating as he hides his feelings, is overly dedicated to his work, and has a hard time separating his life from it. Considering how he was raised, to him, there is no line to separate the two. He gave up his own identity to take up the mantle of Raidou Kuzunoha XIV. His work is his life, and his life is for the Capital.

        Suitability:
While I’m taking him from a canon point before he reaches this point, Raidou does eventually learn that he cannot do everything on his own, and it’s with the help of his demons in battle and his friends with moral support that he can continue to do his job. At the point I’m taking him from, Raidou had just been betrayed by one of his only friends, Seimei Abe, another summoner his age who he had started to grow close to. Seimei had turned out to be the mastermind behind a group of onmyouji who had started to take over the Capitol to regain their power. What appeared to be Seimei had been violently killed in front of Raidou, sending him into a berserker-like rage against the offending demon. It turned out to be a trap set by Seimei himself to fool Raidou, and it worked like a charm. Raidou had been bound and captured by Seimei, who was intent on sacrificing Raidou to use his energy as the fuel for the destructive rampage he was about to commence. It’s after blacking out from this assault that Raidou will wake in game.

Raidou needs to learn to open up to people, and to trust them again after his betrayal from a close friend. No man is an island, not even Raidou Kuzunoha. As much as he often doesn’t think of it that way, Raidou *is* still just a human, with human emotions he needs to contend with. His fierce passion for protecting others and putting himself in the line of fire for others makes him unquestionably a Ruby Gembond. A setting like Noctium can help him open up, and discover how to tackle these feelings. He’s never had the chance until now. Attempting Synchrony is going to be a real challenge for him, but Raidou has never backed down from any challenge. He will find the Gembond power interesting as well - anything that helps him fight better is a welcome, though he will miss his demons more than he realizes. Not just for their powers, but their personalities and companionship.

He will be completely fascinated with the setting and the natives, once he’s done thinking he’s died and gone to some strange afterlife. This is a whole new world with so much to learn about. Do they have demons and magic here? What are their religions and customs? How can he help protect it and its people? He can’t wait to find out as much as he can. He’ll probably be often found at libraries and shrines.

        Condition upon arrival:
Fairly rough, as he had gone through a very nasty fight and was knocked out, physically defeated and drained of magical energy. When he comes to, he is probably being patched up by the government workers.

        Abilities:
Raidou is able to capture and command demons that he stores in kuda, small metal tubes he keeps on a bandolier on his chest (and one in a sock for emergencies). “Demons” encapsulates many magical creatures, from ghosts, imps, and youkai, to unique legendary heroic spirits and gods. However, the kuda will be empty upon arrival. Raidou is also very adept at sensing magic and spirits, and even better at cleansing and removing spells with the help of his sword and casting abilities. He is a top-notch sword fighter, and is even adept with a pistol.

        Inventory:
His clothing (school uniform, cape, hat), kuda tubes and bandolier, a small pistol, and his heirloom katana, the Shakkou Kuzunoha.
